Inshore Fishing
The shallow bays, grass flats, and marsh ponds surrounding Cocodrie are legendary for speckled trout and redfish. Spring and fall bring the hottest action, with trout stacking on the flats and redfish schooling through the cuts and shorelines. Flounder, sheepshead, and black drum round out the inshore menu year-round. Whether you bring your own boat and launch from our private ramp, or hire one of the expert local charter captains we work with — the fishing is world class.

Pelican's View Lodge has its own launch, 2 boat slips on the water, and is conveniently located making it a quick boat ride to go inshore fishing or to head out to the islands. With marinas nearby, you can make a quick pit stop for live bait, ice, and maybe a few helpful tips!

Offshore Fishing
Head south from Cocodrie and you're quickly in Gulf of Mexico waters loaded with red snapper, amberjack, grouper, and yellowfin tuna. Offshore trips are easy to arrange through local marinas just minutes from the lodge. Red snapper season typically opens in June and draws anglers from across the country — and for good reason.

Duck Hunting
When the temperatures drop and the north winds push birds south, Cocodrie transforms into one of the premier duck hunting destinations in Louisiana. Teal season, split season, and the main duck season bring incredible waterfowl action to the marshes surrounding the lodge. Many of our guests combine a morning hunt with an afternoon on the water for the ultimate South Louisiana outdoor experience.
