A group fishing trip works best when everyone stays under one roof, close to the water. Cocodrie, at the end of LA-56 in Terrebonne Parish, is one of the best places in Louisiana to do it, and Pelican's View Lodge is built for exactly that kind of trip. The whole lodge is rented to one group and sits right on Bayou Petit Caillou at 7464 Edgewater Drive, Chauvin, LA 70344.

Why Cocodrie for a group trip

Cocodrie gives a group options. Some days you want to fish the marsh for redfish, some days you want speckled trout in the bays, and some days the weather is right for a run to the rigs. From the lodge you have quick boat access to Terrebonne Bay, Lake Pelto, Lake Barre, Lake Boudreaux, the barrier islands at Last Island (Isles Dernieres) and Timbalier Island, and the Gulf of Mexico rigs offshore.

Room for the whole crew

The lodge sleeps 10 in 3 bedrooms with 2.5 baths, with 1 King bed, 1 Queen bed, 1 Single bed, and 3 bunk beds. A full kitchen and outdoor grill make it easy to cook for the group. There is free Wi-Fi, a TV, air conditioning, a washer and dryer, and free parking. There is no hot tub.

Set up for multiple boats and a lot of fish

  • Private boat launch

  • 2 boat slips

  • Boat trailer parking

  • Lights for night fishing

  • 2 fish cleaning stations

Two cleaning stations matter when a full group comes in at the same time with full boxes.

How to plan a Louisiana group fishing trip

1. Pick your dates early

Spring and fall are popular, and holiday and tournament weekends fill first. Check open dates on our Book Direct site.

2. Decide on boats versus charters

If your group brings its own boats, you can launch at the lodge. If not, book local captains. See Recommended Cocodrie Charter Captains for local options. Many groups mix both: one day chartered, one day on their own.

3. Split the cost

Rates vary by date; see live pricing at company-84092819.staycation.igms.com. Plus a $125 cleaning fee for the whole lodge. Split across a full group, that is usually far less per person than separate motel rooms. See the Rates page.

4. Plan meals and supplies

Shop in Houma on the way down, plan a fish fry for the last night, and pack coolers for the trip home.

5. Get licenses in advance

Everyone who fishes needs a Louisiana fishing license. Buy it online before the trip.
